A project "Training of seven guidedogs for disabled people"

In 2005 we worked on the project "Training of seven guidedogs for disabled people". The project was carried out with support of the charitable organization United Way International that sponsored the basic part of our work. We trained dogs for disabled people who live in Moscow and the Moscow Region. The project is successfully completed. And we are glad to represent our graduates:

    Vasya and Elena
Vasya got used to her new handler Elena very quickly. “She follows me everywhere around the apartment and immediately learned to bring me my slippers. Learned it herself, I didn’t teach her” – says Elena. Elena does not walk out on her own and is embarrassed to attract somebody’s attention. We hope that Vasya will help her to solve her problems.

    Malysh and Irina
Irina’s family has waited for Malysh for a long time. Irina used to see a little bit, now she is completely blind. Living became much more difficult. Irina lives with her elderly parents. They can’t escort her everywhere. Malysh is her only hope.

Nevada and Lyudmila
Lyudmila and Nevada successfully learn new routs. A Guide Dog is a really important helper in a family of two blind people where they have to do everything on their own.

Ike
Tatiana goes everywhere with Ike. They almost never part. The pair goes to work, music classes, to a kindergarten to pick up Tatiana’s son. They even have a metro trip on one of their routes.

    Vlada and Olga
Vlada is Olga’s second Guide Dog. The first Guide Dog – a German shepherd – has lived with her for 10 years and has worked really well. When Panda died Olga understood that her living will be very difficult without a dog’s help. Now Vlada is gaining experience and will soon be as good a helper as Panda was.

  Bublik and Alexander
Alexander Ivanovich lives in Moscow Region and works in Moscow. The way to work is long and difficult. He has to walk across his village to the train station, take a train then a bus ride and more walking. Bublik accompanies Alexander Ivanovich and rests when he works. During his working day Alexander Ivanovich pays attention to his dog and takes him out for a walk. At the end of the day the go back home. They like longs walks in the evening in their village.

     Gray and Tatiana

Tatiana had big hopes for a Guide Dog. She is young and energetic and she felt dispirited that she could not leave home without one of her family members. Now she goes out with Gray. Gray is a favorite of Tatiana’s whole family. He even made friends with the cat.

Only thanks to the support of UWM we could help all these people.
